Center for Eating and feeding Disorders Research (CEDaR) is now hiring two psychologists for PhD positions in the HALO-trial, a large randomized controlled trial testing high, medium and low intensity psychotherapies for Binge Eating Disorder at Mental Health Center Ballerup.


About the job

We are in the process of planning the HALO-trial and will start including patients in the beginning of 2024.. The trial will deliver 4 different types and modes of psychotherapy from 2024-2026.

The trial team is led by the head of research Professor Nadia Micali and consist of a senior researcher, a project leader, a PostDoc, 2 PhD students and masters students.

As PhD students you will initially be employed as research assistant for 3 months, while you define and write your PhD proposals. After that the PhD position will entail the planning, execution and write up of a PhD thesis alongside clinical research tasks such as:

  • carrying out diagnostic assessments with patients
  • delivering psychotherapy in the trial
  • administering the trial alongside your coworkers
You will be trained in relevant assessment tools, psychotherapy and receive supervision on your tasks throughout the employment period.

We envision one PhD to be predominantly quantitative and one predominantly qualitative.

You will be signed into the SUND PhD school at the University of Copenhagen and have your day-to-day work tasks at Mental Health Center Ballerup.


CEDaR

You will join a large diverse and multidisciplinary group, comprised of Head of the unit Professor Nadia Micali and 8 staff members (administrator, senior researcher, postdoc, PhD Student, research nurse, clinical researcher, research coordinator).

Research in eating disorders is a highly prioritized research area of the Mental Health Services in the Capital Region of Denmark, and you will meet a group of very committed colleagues. We are dedicated to performing research at the highest international level with the aim of providing new insights into what causes eating disorders and better treatments for patients.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with a keen interest in the fields of eating disorders and psychotherapy.

The ideal candidate has some experience with diagnostic interviews, working with psychiatric patients and psychotherapy. Experience within clinical psychology or research is an advantage, but not a requirement.

The candidate should have following qualifications:

  • A master’s degree in psychology from a Danish University
  • Have experience with quantitative or qualitative research methods
  • Great communication skills in both Danish and English
  • Organized, self-directive and able to plan and coordinate own tasks
  • A team player
  • Be able to provide
Conditions:

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisations.

The position is in accordance with best Danish labour practices, including a 37-hour work week, six weeks of paid vacation per annum, funded parental leave, matched pension contributions, enrolment in national healthcare, and labour union representation.

The position is funded by a 7-year Laureate award from the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF) grant to Prof Micali, and offered for a fixed-term of three years.

Since 2017, treatment of all adult patients with Eating Disorders in the Capital region has been located at Mental Health Centre Ballerup, and around one thousand patients are referred for treatment each year, making it one of the largest clinics for Eating Disorders in Europe.

Mental Health Center Ballerup is a part of Copenhagen University Hospital and one of nine departments, that provide treatment for mental disorders in the Capital Region of Denmark. The department consists of ten inpatient wards comprising 157 beds, nine outpatient clinics with several specialized functions and three research groups. We employ around 90 medical doctors and 80 psychologists in addition to nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and technical and administrative staff.
